Mallet of London & New York selected
Plaza Construction Corporation as
the General Contractor for the comprehensive
building upgrade and redevelopment
of 929 Madison Avenue
for their new retail store.
Mallett of London and New York provides
private clients, collectors, interior
designers and museums worldwide
with exceptional English and
Continental antique furniture, fine
art and unique decorative accessories.
The building,
built in the early 20th century, was
stripped back to interior masonry
partitions and floor structure, while
cellar level excavation was performed
to increase headroom to create
usable workspace. Complete
new electrical, plumbing, heating
and air conditioning systems were
installed for distribution throughout
the building, along with new elevators
to bring the building up to current code compliance. The landmarked
building facade was restored with new brownstone, street level strorefront
and special large custom pivot windows which were designed to allow
large antiques to be delivered through the front of the building on the
first and second floors.
