New York City-based Plaza Construction opened an office in Tampa and appointed Todd Fultz managing director of the company’s Central Florida operations.

The Central Florida market, including Tampa and Orlando, has “a lot of potential, not least because of its connectivity, world-class educational institutions and lower land costs compared to metro areas like Miami and Fort Lauderdale,” Brad Meltzer, president of Plaza Construction Group Florida, said in a prepared statement.

Fultz previously was vice president of the Central Florida region for Manhattan Construction. His experience also includes serving as a project executive for DPR-Hardin Construction. He has been involved in the construction of multiple high-profile developments in Tampa such as the Westin Hotel on Rocky Point and Raymond James Stadium, plus several projects at Tampa International Airport. A Tampa native and a graduate of the University of Florida’s M.E. Rinker School of Building Construction, Fultz serves as chairman of the board of the Florida Gulf Coast Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors, a construction trade organization. From 2018 to 2022, building construction starts are expected to top $12 billion in Tampa and total more than $19 billion in Orlando, according to Dodge Data and Analytics.
