Bronx Fisher Houses I & II
Two new Fisher Houses were built at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center in the Bronx. These 16-suite homes-away-from-home will serve the families of the nearly 375,000 veterans residing in the service area, and are eligible to receive health care from the Bronx VA. Two new (identical) 16-bedroom houses, (each) has two floors and is 12,500 square feet (totaling 25,000 Square Feet) exhibit a Tudor architecture and were built side-by-side in an existing parking lot area repurposed for this construction. The floor plan layout is based on a center hall design with a living room, dining room, kitchen and family room. Wings of the building contain temporary bedrooms for families of VA Hospital patients. The houses each have a small commercial elevator servicing its two floors. A patio/landscaped area with pergola was designated between the two houses. A parking lot with 34 spaces will be located on the East side of the site.
