Joe's Stone Crab Restaurant Expansion

Built as an expansion within an existing 3-level garage and storage facility, this eatery, take away and distribution facility, required the installation of structural beams and channels atop helical pilings to raise its floor to meet the elevation of the original structure. Extensive planning and coordination with the owner, designers, and City of Miami Beach Historic Board was required to ensure the new modern features of the interior space incorporated the historic elements of the adjacent building built in 1913. Field crews managed to complete the project 5 days before the restaurant’s stone crab season. This is the first of three assignments Plaza has built for this renowned restauranteur.
