Maspeth Campus High School

Plaza Construction provided construction services for the Maspeth Campus High School located in Maspeth, Queens, just north of the Long Island Expressway.  The building accommodates approximately 1150 intermediate and high school students. The facility includes an auditorium, gymnasium, dividable cafeteria, 51 classrooms, laboratories, music rooms and associated support facilities. This School building completes the recent educational commitment that the City of New York has made to the area and joins PS 58, School of Heroes, PS 128, and Juniper Valley School, giving complete K-12 education in new buildings in the community. 
The building consists of a structural steel frame four-stories tall supported on a combination of spread footings and mini-piles to achieve bearing in the various strata available. The facade is masonry cavity wall with some metal panel detailing and a large storefront wall. Heating and air conditioning is supplied from the rooftop packaged high efficiency units, supplemented with perimeter hydronic system. The electrical systems feature state-of-the-art network and communications systems. 
Plaza exceeded the SCA’s goals of 20% Minority participation.
