New York City Hall Renovation
Plaza Construction was selected as the General Contractor for Phase II Renovation of City Hall. Work was performed throughout the 3 story Landmark building.
The architectural and engineering highlights of this project included:
• Installing new Fan Coil Units throughout building
• Install new LULA Elevator between the 2nd and 3rd floor.
• Install 12 new air handling units throughout the building, including associated piping and duct work throughout the entire building
• Installation of new sprinkler system throughout the building
• New electrical panels and risers
• Two cooling towers on roof to service new chillers in the basement.
• Restoration of damaged plaster throughout building
• Restoration of damaged historic woodwork throughout building
• Reconstruction of landmark stairs
• Refurbishment of historical cast iron steam radiators
• Installation of new fire alarm system throughout the building
• Upgrade 8 bathrooms with new fixtures, roughing, and finishes
• Installation of new structural systems in select areas
This project received the Lucy G. Moses Preservation Award which is New York Landmarks Conservancy’s highest honor for excellence in preservation.
