Park Avenue Plaza Lobby Renovation
The recently completed Park Avenue Plaza 45,000 square foot public atrium and lobby redesign centers on a dramatic glass colonnade composed of eight sculptural, round edged piers, each 30 feet high, three feet wide and six inches thick. Also constructed was a 50 foot water feature and reflecting pool and 1,000 square feet of green wall with vines that climb up a specially designed aircraft cable system. The columns were designed to encourage spontaneity and a variety of interactions with movable seating and free flowing plan allowing for multiple uses. Art, sculpture, music, digital media and a central water feature create diverse experiences while a continuous green wall and bamboo planters suggest an urban Eden.
The two feature walls are over 300 linear feet of custom designed glass wall with light emitting glass crystal tubes over 25’ tall, 30’ custom mirrored stainless steel I-beam profile column covers, lot-line skylight enclosure and a 66’ long new lobby desk with custom etched glass was installed. The project scope also entailed the installation of new MEPS systems, renovation of the two story skylight, structural column re-cladding, new landscaping and coordination of a new Starbucks kiosk, more than 86 tons of new metal and glass, 13 tons of new granite, and extensive structural steel were used to support the finishes.
