The Cube
Located in Miami’s Financial District, this project was built as an addition to the lobby of an existing 19-story office tower. The Cube is comprised of a structural steel frame standing 2 feet tall and includes a 10-inch double-wall glass system. The interior features concrete flooring and an insulated light-weight single ply concrete roof. The unique Sage Glass wall system required a 16-week pre-ordering process and consists of 108 glass panes. Each pane is individually wired with an elaborate control panel that monitors its tinting mechanism. Temporary barriers were erected to separate the work area from pedestrians during the connection of the new structure to the existing building. Field crews coordinated night work to relocate the water, sanitary, and fire systems to avoid any daytime shutdowns. Plaza also coordinated the installation of the bank’s five 3,000-pound safes.
